Trellick Tower London Art Print: Brutalist Architecture Illustration

Trellick Tower London Art Print: Brutalist Architecture Illustration

An architectural study of Trellick Tower, one of London’s most recognisable Brutalist landmarks. This illustration focuses on the tower’s uncompromising form: its vertical repetition, exposed structure, and the stark relationship between mass and space. Rather than softening its presence, the piece embraces the building’s raw geometry and rhythm.

About the Artwork
Trellick Tower stands as a defining example of post-war Brutalist architecture in London.
This piece isolates the building from its surroundings, allowing its structure to take full focus. The composition emphasises repetition, proportion, and the visual weight of the tower, translating its scale into a balanced, graphic form.

Process
The illustration begins with close observation of the tower’s form, studying how its modular structure repeats across height and how light interacts with its concrete surfaces. Sketches are refined into a simplified composition, removing unnecessary detail while preserving the building’s defining characteristics. The aim is to retain the integrity of the architecture while presenting it in a more controlled, considered way.
