Brutalist London Bookmarks – Architecture Bookmark Set
This set of Brutalist London bookmarks began as a series of walks across the city, stopping at buildings I kept returning to, sketching details, and trying to understand why they felt so visually compelling.
Each bookmark translates those moments into a small piece of brutalist architecture, designed to be held, used, and revisited.
Walking Through London’s Brutalist Landscape
Most of these buildings weren’t planned as a collection. They appeared gradually on different days, in different parts of London but with a shared language of concrete, repetition, and structure.
Standing outside the Barbican Estate, it’s the rhythm of the towers that stands out first.
At Trellick Tower, it’s the verticality, the way the building pulls your eye upwards.Other places feel more hidden. You come across them almost unexpectedly, but they stay with you.
Over time, these observations became sketches and illustrations, and eventually, this set of Brutalist bookmarks.
This Brutalist London architecture bookmark set includes a mix of well-known landmarks and quieter structures:
- Trellick Tower
- Barbican Towers
- Barbican Conservatory
- Welbeck Street Car Park
- Elephant & Castle (Metro Central Heights)
- Stockwell Bus Garage
- Southwyck House (Brixton)
- Brixton Recreation Centre
- National Theatre
- The Barbican Cat
and...a surprise extra bookmark
Each one is reduced to its essential form, focusing on structure, silhouette, and the repetition that defines Brutalist architecture in London.
Why did I turn architecture into bookmarks?
A bookmark is something you return to without thinking. It lives between pages, marking progress, quietly present. Turning brutalist buildings into bookmarks felt like a way to bring architecture into that same space, something small, tactile, and used over time rather than just displayed.
Ideal for architecture enthusiasts, designers and creatives or readers with an interest in the city! They work equally well as practical objects or as a small collection of architectural studies.
